THE CLIMB

Some time last year, I was privileged to go to a waterfall somewhere in Osun state, Nigeria. I was ecstatic when I found out that it would be one of the places we would visit during a debate tournament I was attending. It would go on to be my first time at a waterfall.

When the day we were scheduled to go to the waterfall finally came I was so happy maybe because I was totally oblivious to the fact that to get to the waterfall, I had to climb what felt like a thousand stairs up a mountain. To make matters worse, I had just eaten a very heavy meal for lunch before I began the climb. At every point along the way, I felt like my chest was going to crack open and my heart was going to fall out and begin beating heavily like the drums we read about in primary school that were used during the annual argungu festival.

At every point along the way, I had to remind myself that I wanted to see the waterfall no matter what. So no matter how much my heart, brain, arms and legs were begging me to stop I had to take the next step and the step after that. Paul the apostle would say "I had to press toward the mark of the high calling".

After what felt like a climb up Everest, I got to the waterfall and had soooooo much fun with my friends. Took many pictures and videos and above all, I was happy.

Many people think of life like a marathon, I like to think of it like a climb, like my climb that every body is taking to see their waterfall for the first time. The climb comes in so many forms: pursuing a degree, starting a business, learning how to drive or swim and so on.

We all have waterfalls that we are ecstatic to see but the stress on our bodies, finances, relationships etc might push us to quit or worse still settle for the little ponds along the way.

Well this post comes as a gentle reminder to you about your waterfall. This new earth revolution that for some reason we all agree to call 2019 is another opportunity for you and me to resume our climb and hopefully before the year ends, we'd see the waterfall that launches us to begin yet another climb towards a bigger waterfall 😊.

“ Waterfall of life” sooo many songs have used the climb to a waterfall or the fall itself as a way of teaching patience. So far? This is my favorite

Great one dear
Some stress on the way can crumble, but we'll remember our most wanted waterfall sight and keep pressing on towards the mark of the higher calling.

I'M MOVING TO AUSTRALIA 🥳🎉🎉

I’m moving…. AGAIN? Call me Kwaku the traveller cos I do be travelling… but not this time. I’m actually moving. By now, most (if not everyone) reading this blog knows I've moved to Sydney, Australia. When I first posted about arriving in Australia on WhatsApp, I think some people thought I was just visiting Australia because I have been travelling A LOT this year. In just 9 months of this year, I've been to 6 countries, including Singapore and Australia, which is A LOT! If you didn't already figure it out, the reason I was travelling like a headless chicken in summer was because I sorta knew I was leaving the UK. So I wanted to get the most out of that location proximity and visa while I could. Few people fully understand how and why I made the move, and posting this on Twitter revealed this very jarringly. Especially since the tweet referenced me having worked in Cairo, London and now Sydney all by the --- very ripe (I quickly rued my choice of "very ripe age" a...

I HATE SCHOOL

I hate school! 😣 Never have I more convincingly told myself that I hate a thing. I hate the fact that I have to get up early everyday to get ready to acquire information that I would not need in the future. I hate the fact that I'm tested by my ability to know what the teacher wants me to know, how he wants me to know it and present it the way he wants me to otherwise, I might not be qualified to advance to the next stage. I'm a square peg, I hate that I'm being forced to fit in a triangular hole, I hate it! We all hate school for so many reasons. The rules, the annoying teachers, the uncomfortable seats, having to wake up early to go for class 😓, the books we have to read, sometimes the ugly outfits we have to wear, the terrible cafeteria food that breaks our hearts and make us fall out of love with our favorite food 😉... The list is unending. But there's one thing that tops the list of almost everyone that hates school, the EXAMS! The most inefficient ...

A LUNCH TO REMEMBER

I'm writing this blog on Sunday, the 26th of May, 2024. On Wednesday, I posted about this incredible lunch I had that I was going to share the details of on my WhatsApp status but never got around to writing down the story. To truly “immortalize” this experience, I’ve decided to also share this story on my blog. Here's the story. Let’s start at the beginning. My industry friend invited me to this steak lunch at a restaurant called Bistecca.  All I knew about the restaurant was the name. I typed in the details on Google Maps and walked from my office. When I was 1 minute away, I thought a building I saw in the distance was the restaurant, but when I got closer, I realized it wasn’t it. I looked around, trying to find said restaurant while simultaneously swearing for Google Maps; after all, this wouldn't be the 1st time Google Maps had led me astray. Remember my Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very bad day ? Yeah, that was all proudly sponsored by Google Maps. While looking arou...
