CUSTOMER SERVICE


Recently, I decided to open an account with one of the most reliable banks I know because the bank I currently use is not particularly good. On that day, my friend and I went with the required documents to the branch that's located in my school. Since it's a small branch, there was only one desk officer and if you're familiar with the procedure for opening an account, the bank usually needs a copy of some documents that you can't give them the original to, e.g. international passport, student ID. Since the desk officer couldn't leave his station to make photocopies of these documents, he had to get the security guard to do the work for him. The security guy came with so much attitude to him. At first, he accused us of forging documents because one of the original documents we brought wasn't "printed in color", next he couldn't find my passport that I already gave to him so he started shouting at me as if I would steal my own passport. After a few seconds, he found the passport. I was just looking at him like


After everything, he didn't even have the decency to apologise 
πŸ˜’ because I'm younger than him of course and even if he was wrong, I didn't deserve to be treated well 😬.

Of course I felt bad after everything. It was somewhat a traumatic experience and if I was asked to recommend a bank to a friend, if not that I already know how good that bank is with customers, I probably wouldn't recommend them.

I'm sure if I leave the comment section to all of us to talk about our terrible experiences with different sellers, I could write a book out of it. But here's one type of customer service we never seem to remember in all this πŸ˜€: The one you offer to others (not when you're selling or advertising) but just as you live your life.

Sometimes, I like to think of myself as a product, one I sell to everyone I meet daily. Not sell in the sense of allowing people take advantage of me, but sell as in give people the "Edna experience" πŸ˜‰. I found that it was so easy to point fingers at that store keeper that was rude or that security man or cab driver that didn't treat me like the "King that I am" (customer is king). However, it's not as easy when the lens are on me. I'm not particularly a nice person, but if you've noticed, in all my blog posts, I keep advising against being like me πŸ˜‰, so please don't be like me. I give horrible customer service πŸ˜‚.



We are all sellers, everyone we come in contact with daily are our customers... Are you giving your customers the true service that is deserving of a king or are you like that security guard I met at the bank?

Customer service is part of the product you sell. It shouldn't be a separate service or an after thought. Nice read!

Edna Jay, I cannot agree anymore with you on this post. Our lives should be seen as products and our attitude and approach to life can be seen as our selling points which is part of customer service

THE NEED TO FEEL IMPORTANT

I remember the day I heard of instagram. Some friends were talking about this new app that allowed you upload pictures, view pictures, get followers and loads of other fun stuff. I was so intruiged by it not because I liked taking pictures for people to see, but just because of the way they talked about it. They went on and on about how they had hundreds of followers and how their pictures easily gathered likes over this new app. So I thought, maybe I would do the same and maybe get even more likes and followers. Later that day, I downloaded the app and instantly created a profile. The goal then was simply to get more followers than they had and have my pictures become instant hits! Easy! Oh how naive I was πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.  So I uploaded my first post and after a week, I still had 5 likes! Just 5 likes! I actually just had 4 likes plus my own like on my photo πŸ˜‚. Meanwhile, my friends were cruising about a hundred likes on every single new post they dropped just within the first 24 hours
