LIFE IS BUT A DREAM

My favourite season of Teen Wolf is easily season 3. Evil Stiles is undeniably the best villain of the show.

If you watched Teen Wolf up to that point, you'd know that 1 thing Stiles faces is nightmares. He explained at one point that one of the ways to know you are dreaming is, in your dream, you can't count your fingers. Inception explores this concept too. They explore how difficult it is to see specifics in your dream.

That's what living your dream is like. Dreams give you a bird's eye view, an overview of what your ideal life would look like. Your "dream house", "dream car", "dream vacation", "dream job" etc do not incorporate the second by second play of what it would be like to live the dream.

Fortunately (or unfortunately), we live in specifics. The problem with living our dreams is that the overview is the same, but because we never knew the specifics, they catch us off guard. And the problem with specifics is that they are not all cute.

So your dream house costs a lot of money to maintain, or it's stressful to keep it in the condition you dreamt. Your dream vacation had you going through a very long stressful flight, or your dream job is 90% grunt work with a sprinkle of enjoyment ear and dear that makes all the grunt work worth it.

You can be living your dream and seeing shitty specifics. And because as humans, we tend to focus on the shit in every clean room and not the clean around it, we can be living our dreams and still be miserable.

It's always important to remember that imperfect specifics don't make your reality any less your dream.

Life is but a dream.

Be more conscious of the dream you're living in than the specific blemishes that come with it.

I guess we should give the same quality of attention to the white parts as we give to the black dot but with proportional quantity

I'M MOVING TO AUSTRALIA 🥳🎉🎉

I’m moving…. AGAIN? Call me Kwaku the traveller cos I do be travelling… but not this time. I’m actually moving. By now, most (if not everyone) reading this blog knows I've moved to Sydney, Australia. When I first posted about arriving in Australia on WhatsApp, I think some people thought I was just visiting Australia because I have been travelling A LOT this year. In just 9 months of this year, I've been to 6 countries, including Singapore and Australia, which is A LOT! If you didn't already figure it out, the reason I was travelling like a headless chicken in summer was because I sorta knew I was leaving the UK. So I wanted to get the most out of that location proximity and visa while I could. Few people fully understand how and why I made the move, and posting this on Twitter revealed this very jarringly. Especially since the tweet referenced me having worked in Cairo, London and now Sydney all by the --- very ripe (I quickly rued my choice of "very ripe age" a...

A LUNCH TO REMEMBER

I'm writing this blog on Sunday, the 26th of May, 2024. On Wednesday, I posted about this incredible lunch I had that I was going to share the details of on my WhatsApp status but never got around to writing down the story. To truly “immortalize” this experience, I’ve decided to also share this story on my blog. Here's the story. Let’s start at the beginning. My industry friend invited me to this steak lunch at a restaurant called Bistecca.  All I knew about the restaurant was the name. I typed in the details on Google Maps and walked from my office. When I was 1 minute away, I thought a building I saw in the distance was the restaurant, but when I got closer, I realized it wasn’t it. I looked around, trying to find said restaurant while simultaneously swearing for Google Maps; after all, this wouldn't be the 1st time Google Maps had led me astray. Remember my Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very bad day ? Yeah, that was all proudly sponsored by Google Maps. While looking arou...

MARRIAGE

Let's start this piece with a little thinking exercise When you think of weddings, what pictures usually come to mind? Probably something like this ▲ Or this ▲. But hardly something like this ▼ Here's the fun reality about marriages. As fun as the attention, the gifts, the flowers, the sometimes expensive rings, THE LOVE! the jaw dropping dress and the really snazzy suit may look on the "wedding day"; more often than not, that's all it ever gets to be 😞. Few years down the line, (if it ever gets to last that long) all those things would be faint memories of what had been. At that time, guess what remains? the person! The one that you promised to love, to have and to hold and all that overflogged wedding vow mantra 😞. He/she is the one left behind. The reality that you'd be left with.  Now forgive my tone, this might actually be a good thing if you got together for the "right reasons" and have been able to tolerate e...
